We at the CALA Board of Directors certainly know that you, as owners and directors of assisted living residences, certainly have many expenses to consider, and your time and staff is stretched thin. But can you afford to NOT be a member of CALA, the number one state association in Colorado for introducing assisted living legislation, monitoring what is going on at the legislative level and keeping you informed, and keeping you and your team abreast of the latest information and advancements in education?
CALA is an association that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re a small six bed facility, or a 100 bed facility, the education and support you receive from this association is invaluable. Over the past year, members have become educated on a multitude of topics, including: how to find investment capital, food management, hiring and keeping top performers, key issues concerning elderly and disabled abuse laws, leadership skills, legislative trends and public policy, dementia and Alzheimer’s, how to make difficult conversations successful, preparing for a survey, new QMP rules and regulations, the new QMAP program, trends in labor laws, person-centered care, how to transition between levels of care successfully, psychiatric emergency care and crisis management, updates on CDHCF rules, mental illness education for placement/assessment/discharge, dietary and food safety, memory care and managing difficult behaviors…..just to name some of them.
In addition, networking opportunities have grown over the past few years as well. CALA has reinstated lunch time events, as well as after-hours events, where you can pick each other’s brains and share information with your colleagues.
You have one of the most important jobs, and CALA is here to support you and your team. We provide professional credibility showing your commitment to professional growth and dedication to the industry. We will advocate for you at the state and federal level in helping you achieve what you need to do your most important job! CALA encourages communication between you and the CALA board so we can assist you fully in your quest to provide the best home possible for your residents.
If you are currently a member of CALA, be proud that you are a dedicated leader in assisted living. If you are not a member of CALA, then there’s no time like the present to join this wonderful group of members so you can continue to offer the highest level of care to your residents, while being assured you are up to speed on state regulations, and your team of compassionate care-givers knows that you and CALA have their back.
For information on becoming a member of CALA, contact Karen Price, membership chairman, at 970-461-1975, ext. 343.
